The Team

Holly Ormrod-Stebbings
Director and Senior Architect

Holly is a Chartered Architect and the Founder of Astrid Architects, with a passion for creating joyful, functional homes for families. With experience in developer-led housing projects in London, she now focuses on bespoke residential design for homeowner clients. Holly draws on her personal experience as a mum of two to craft thoughtful solutions that maximise space, light, and storage—often on a budget.

She studied Architecture at both Sheffield universities, later earning a Distinction in her Part III at Leeds. Committed to making architecture more inclusive, Holly has mentored students at both Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield, aiming to support and inspire more women in the profession.

Currently renovating her own family home in Sheffield, Holly enjoys gardening, art, and music. She's also the proud owner of a curious cat and an impressive gin collection—and claims Viking ancestry to top it all off.

Jamie Smith
Architect

Jamie has been a member of the Astrid team since 2020, joining while completing his masters studies at the Sheffield School of Architecture. He brings a creative and user-focused approach to the design process.

His experiences prior to joining Astrid has seen him work on architecture projects in the transport, commercial and residential sectors. He gets most enjoyment from residential projects where he uses his interpersonal skills to devise beautiful bespoke and sustainable designs.

Away from the office he loves finding inspiration through travelling. He enjoys drawings and regularly partakes in life drawing sessions. Also a keen runner, each week he heads out towards the Peak District.

Oliver Montgomery
Part II Architectural Apprentice

Oliver has been part of the Astrid team since 2024, joining while completing his Part II Architectural apprenticeship at Sheffield Hallam University. With a deep passion for design and sustainability, he approaches each project with a thoughtful, solution-oriented mindset. Oliver thrives on projects that involve advanced visual rendering, where he can leverage his expertise in tools such as Enscape to effectively communicate both the functionality and aesthetic vision of each design. His attention to detail and ability to bring complex concepts to life make him an asset to any project.

Outside of work, Oliver enjoys cooking and is passionate about personal development, regularly dedicating time to the gym to stay active. He believes in continuous growth and strives to apply the same dedication and creativity to his personal pursuits as he does to his architectural work.

Our Values

Quality.

We are passionate about good design and the effects this can have on people’s everyday lives. We believe that high quality architecture should be accessible to everyone, and this starts at home. Improving aspect such as space, flow, natural light and storage, we consider the needs of a home’s occupants today and in the future. We review a choice of robust and sustainable materials, creating spaces which give you joy in daily life.

Integrity.

We approach every project by carefully listening to our clients about their needs and wishes. Even in two identical houses, the needs of its inhabitants might be completely different, so this is the core of our design process. We work hard to really understand and get to know our clients – strong working relationships are so important in a building project, especially when it’s on your own home.

Importantly, as a RIBA Chartered Practice we adhere to the very high standards required from this accreditation.

Sustainability.

When producing beautiful, practical and well-considered designs, we want to do this as sustainably as possible. Any building work needs to consider its impact on the planet, and architects are always at the forefront of new ideas, technologies and principles of sustainability. Depending on your budget, we can advise on how to achieve very high levels of sustainability in a build, going above the minimum requirements, and work alongside other professionals in this process.
